Please post your modifications by Wednesday as this phase of the report is DUE on Thursday.
The absence of plumbing systems would probably cause us to resort back to primitive methods of hydrology
SHOWERS: would have to be taken outdoors: in certain areas of the U.S. where plumbing and/or power is not available, people have tanks filled with water which they use to shower themselves with. Houses would probably have a more eloquent variation of this somewhere (perhaps on the roof).
KITCHEN SINKS: would probably be outside, or on a portion of the house which stuck out. Perhaps large reservoirs of water would be kept (in big bowls or buckets) for washing dishes. People would certainly be more conservative of water during showers and washing dishes!
TOILETS: would probably be outhouses in backyards far away from the house to deal with the smell. Perhaps the extremely wealthy would have enough water reserves on their roof to have a toilet-like device that had a small pool of water to catch fecal matter, and then be flushed down a chute to a pit somewhere as far away from the house as practical where an outhouse would be. This device would eliminate those late night runs to the outhouse.
SINKS: would probably be non-existent. Perhaps people would have things like Lysol redid-wipes to wash hands, if people cared that much about dis-infecting
ANY OTHER things like washing clothes would probably take place at a stream. Perhaps certain parts of rivers would be sectioned off and split into multiple channels. One filling a pool with soapy water, and one with flowing fresh water for people to rinse clothes in. the question of what happened to the soap remains.
US AS AMERICANS produce so much sewage, it would be difficult to imagine what we would do if there was no way to treat it all. It would probably all end up in a hole in our backyards. Perhaps we would all have mini sewage treatment tanks (specialized septic tanks for different aqueous solutions/mixtures that we would be disposing of).
RAIN would be extremely valuable, thus probably making people more religious and weathermen more money
THE AMERICAN FARMER would me much more reliant on rain, and droughts would have a much more drastic impact on population both in America and overseas.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, especially chemistry would be magnitudes more difficult
PROPER MEDICAL CARE would be more difficult to come by.
FIREMEN: would they even exist? What would be the method of putting out fires? If people figured out how to pump water out of a fire truck at extremely high pressures and volumes, people would probably realize that it could be used for houses.
The invisibility/invincibility pill
Pill, when ingested, kicks in within 5-10 minutes and causes the investor to become invisible and/or invincible for around an hour. (Time is dependant strictly on the person's DNA which has not been fully understood). Some people react differently to the effects. For example, person A might become completely invisible on a standard dosage, but may only become 2-3 times tougher rather than completely invincible. Person B might become mostly translucent, but still slightly noticeable, whereas they could withstand a nuclear bomb at ground zero and only be slightly bruised/have the wind knocked out of them. Determining someone's reaction to the drug cannot be done other than by ingesting the drug and observing the effects.
HOW IT WORKS: invisibility releases a chemical that seeps into all body cells and causes them to become transparent. Thus, in order for it to fully work, one must remove all body hairs, or apply a special mixture of it to the hairs and nails. It also has other effects that are still not fully understood. Invincibility's chemical is sensitive to different body structures, and causes them to become stronger/tougher. For example, bone material is strengthened to become stronger than aluminum for the average patient, and epithelial tissue (skin, stomach/intestinal lining) becomes impenetrable. Organs and muscles are made to be more flexible, and can thus withstand hard blows and not loose functionality. All senses of pain are reduced to regular feeling, much like an audio soundboard’s “compressor” clips off any sound waves above certain amplitude.
SIDE EFFECTS: any *over-dosage* of the drug will directly affect the brain/major organs of the body.
INVISIBILITY
-BRAIN: since the body has become invisible, memories begin to disappear first, followed by skills and eventually motor skills
-MUSCLES: muscles will eventually start to weaken as dosage is increased
Although not related to over-dosing,
-MOTOR SKILLS: since one cannot see one's own body, hand-eye coordination is greatly reduced
INVINCIBILITY:
-BRAIN: since the body is becoming unaffected, the ability to learn or remember anything is greatly reduced.
-Loss of all feeling, both emotional and physical for the time the drug is in effect.
-LUNGS: the ability of O2 to diffuse into the bloodstream is greatly reduced due to the invincibility (HOWEVER: PROVES EFFECTIVE WITH POISION GAS)
-STOMACH and INTENSTINE's ability to absorb nutrients is greatly reduced due to presence of epithelial tissue, and one is likely to have severe diarrhea.
Although not related to overdosing,
-DISLOCATING joints becomes an issue when jumping from high places as in order for joints to function, there must be elasticity in tendons/muscles. One must know how to pop joints back in, and know when joints have popped out of place.
